| Overview |
| This course for early childhood teachers will build each individual's understanding of the language arts - reading, writing, speaking, and listening - and how these interrelated processes develop in young children. Effective practices for use with younger children will be demonstrated and experienced in a highly interactive format. Class members will gain understanding and experience that can readily be implemented in teaching and child care settings. |

| Trainer’s Profile |
| Dr. Wendy C. Kasten is a Professor or Literacy Education at Kent State University, in Kent, Ohio, USA. She is the co-author of seven books related to literacy teaching and learning within the context of teacher education, as well as many articles. She is Associate Editor of The Reading and Writing Quarterly, a scholarly journal. Kasten is an active consultant internationally, having worked with teachers in Turkey, Kenya, Taiwan, the Bahamas, and others. She is the recipient of two teaching awards, and formerly taught children from pre-school to grade 8. |
