Overview: |
The integration of literacy text into student inquiry is an indicator of a good practice in an inquiry-based additional language classroom. For example, a story book as part of a unit of inquiry with a particular social studies emphasis to support students conceptual understanding of the unit of inquiry.
A sophisticated inquiry-based additional language teacher not only help learners to access a range of text as they inquiry but write a range of texts based on learner’s language level and the particular unit of inquiry within the school programme of inquiry.
This very practical workshop is designed for additional language educators working with learners from K-6 in an inquiry-based transdisciplinary curriculum.
In this 4-hour teacher writer workshop, Dr. Lucy Hoi Yin Wong, the author of PYP Inquiry Readers, will share her approach in designing inquiry literacy texts. The participants will collaboratively write texts based on one particular Unit of Inquiry for learners. |

Dr. LUCY HOI YIN WONG |
Dr. Lucy (Hoiyin) Wong is a certified Dr H. Lynn Erickson and Dr Lois A. Lanning Concept-Based Curriculum and Instruction Trainer, an author and an action research coordinator.
Lucy has solid background in providing training and consultancy to educators and IB schools globally. Currently she is involved in consulting IB school program development, leading schools’ professional development, providing guidance in developing additional language program in international schools. Her research area is focused in additional language teaching in IB school. She is also recognized as the pedagogy leaders in the field of “Inquiry” “Differentiation” and “Additional Language Teaching in IB schools”. |
