Overview:
A common question among educators who teach through a Reggio Emilia approach to education is, “What are the connections between literacy and the arts?” This complex question involves considering the arts beyond painting and sculpture to include architecture, engineering, and culinary experiences, to name a few.

Our children may have jobs in the future that do not exist today. We need to teach our children how to problem-solve through critical and creative thinking to prepare them for a future that we cannot even imagine.

This webinar series will explore how children work to enhance their knowledge through motivation and engagement. The educators act as guides to listen, prompt, guide, and co-research alongside children. These sessions invite you to try new practices, explore other ways of interacting with children, and reflect deeply on your philosophy.
This four-session webinar series will address the following topics:
Session 1
  • What does democracy in the classroom look like
  • How to infuse pedagogy of listening and caring in the early years
  • Child-centred learning and culturally responsive teaching
Session 2
  • Meaningful documentation and making thinking visible
  • Documentation as assessment and evaluation
  • Utilizing the environment as the Third Educator in the classroom
Session 3
  • Setting up a culture of relational learning
  • Learning through the senses
  • Sparking curiosity in students
Session 4
