Overview:
The integration of literacy text into student inquiry is an indicator of a good practice in an inquiry-based additional language classroom. For example, a story book as part of a unit of inquiry with a particular social studies emphasis to support students conceptual understanding of the unit of inquiry. A sophisticated inquiry-based additional language teacher not only help learners to access a range of text as they inquiry but write a range of texts based on learner’s language level and the particular unit of inquiry within the school programme of inquiry.

This very practical workshop is designed for additional language educators working with learners from K-6 in an inquiry-based transdisciplinary curriculum. In this 4-hour teacher writer workshop, Dr. Lucy Hoi Yin Wong, the author of PYP Inquiry Readers, will share her approach in designing inquiry literacy texts. The participants will collaboratively write texts based on one particular Unit of Inquiry for learners.
 
Dr. LUCY HOI YIN WONG
Dr. Lucy (Hoiyin) Wong is a certified Concept-Based Curriculum and Instruction Trainer, an author of PYP Inquiry Readers, an Action Research Coordinator IBEN Consultant, IBEN Workshop Leader, and IBEN School Visit Team Leader. Lucy is an experienced educational consultant with elite schools globally.

Lucy has a solid tracing background in teacher training, and she is actively involved in consulting schools in developing concept-based curriculum for all subjects, providing guidance in developing Literacy Focused World Language Program based on her research, implementing Inquiry Fluency into whole school curriculum based on her years of inquiry work and coaching teachers and conferencing students in classroom to provide differentiated instruction.
