This workshop is designed to facilitate schools and educators to meet the key challenges in current practice and to prepare a shift to a thinking classroom in world language for the 21st century.
Research reveals that language acquisition is not well-understood or consistently and thoughtfully applied in the area of unit mapping, content design and learning experience design. To prepare our learners to face the challenge of the 21st Century, the world language classroom requires a shift in the area of what to teach, how to teach and what to assess.
The principles and the guidance shared in this workshop are suitable for any foreign language acquisition.
The instruction language of this workshop is Mandarin. The examples shared in this workshop are teaching Chinese as a second or a foreign language.
This workshop strives to explore:
- misconceptions in current world languages programme across schools
- the effective model of mapping units, designing taught content and designing learner’s learning experience
- concept-based world language
The approach for the 21st century world language programme is based on Dr. Lucy Hoi Yin Wong’s action research.
This workshop is suitable for K-12 world language educators, who teach any language as second or foreign languages. |
