As you look across your curricular calendars, you may find that you have time and space to implement some quick units of study filled with high interest content that resonates with your students’ interests, builds upon their strengths, and responds to their needs. In this three-session series, Kathy Collins will share ideas for projecting brief and mighty units of study that will support and engage your readers and writers. She’ll begin by offering practical tips and actionable ideas for projecting units of study in reading, and she’ll share a variety of units as mentor texts. Kathy will provide guidance and support for participants as they build their own engaging units of study. Each session will feature interactive content and independent work-time, as well as the experience of engaging as a learner in a real time mini-unit of study. Each session will be 90 minutes, followed by 30 minutes of ‘extra credit’ time in the form of Q & A sessions, mini-workshops, and text talks.
