Session 1: Using documentation to make the inquiry process visible (Pre K to Grade 5):
In this workshop, educators will explore the role of pedagogical documentation as a tool to reflect with students on the process of ‘meaning making’. By revisiting photos, videos, conversations and other traces of learning in action, we keep track of our steps, reflect on pivotal moments, big questions and instances of surprise. Documentation helps students understand that learning is a process and that their ideas are listened and responded to. It uncovers not only what students research and how they analyze and generate ideas; it also reveals what teachers know, notice and value about learning.
Session 2: Invitation and provocations - what does it mean (for you)? (Pre to Grade 5):
Educators often have different interpretations of what invitations and provocations are (and the role they play in the inquiry process). By connecting provocations to listening, to documenting and to interpreting students’ ideas we can reach high degrees of intentionality about the way we support students to deepen, expand or adjust their theories.
